since being sick in bed gave me very little to do beside watch t.v or sleep, which is what i really could only think of doing for the last 5 days, i also had time to think, and came up with the perfect idea for my final project in photogrpahy class, well the olympics are coming to vancouver, and there has been very much contraversy on weither people really do want them to come or not, some people dont they think that its ruining our city, they are trying to cover up vancouver for what it really does look like just to make it look good for the olympics, ive even heard they are sending bums to country land just so they dont bother us here and cant make there way back here without any money or transportation. then there are other people who are excited for the olympics, and dont care what the cost just think its cool that they would come here, which is why i choose this to documentate i atually want to see who wants what more, do people really not care about the well being of people, and are people really that selfish.

Kiddo,

Well, as one who has lived in the downtown east side I can see some good coming from this- getting individuals with various dependancies away from the source of the dependencies and gentrafication(sometimes good sometime bad... but I lived in a run down warhouse the had leeky roof and unsafe electrical system and there are lots of these down there)And yes, cleaning up the streets so the public do not have to see the sights that the allies and alcoves have to offer... The images of the wrong side of the street, images that rival Amsterdams redlight district for over the top graphic evidence of lifes gone wrong...

Olympics... what can we say...
My mind goes to the reality of the situation; Is the goverment REALLY moving people out??? What are the houseing cost down there? -have they gone up or down in the last 12 months? If people are being moved out where are they going and what services are there for them...if any? Vissualy what do you see when your down there.

Get film, keep you camera at the ready, read lots and talk to people...diferent types of people.
Listen, learn, think....

Cheers
K

Go for it! This is a worthy and timely topic... You need to have just a few really good questions when interviewing people, questions that will FORCE them to give honest answers to expose what really lies beneath this city's olympic veneer.

You got what it takes, Kaisa!
